Star Wars Family, Sweetness, Silly Manny Quotes

Manny has been begging to have a baby because he really wants a little sister. So we can be a "Star Wars Family." He will be Luke, Marcel will be Han, his little sister will be Leia, and Papi will be Chewbacca. I keep saying I'm a girl-I can be Leia, but he just shakes his head at me-I can't be Princess Leia, I am Princess Leia's mom (Queen Amidala). Good to know. And after he thought about it he changed Luis' role to Anakin.  I keep telling him I might not have a girl, but he doesn't care.
I am not pregnant, but just wanted to record the funny story before I forgot.
More things I want to remember-
We have been trying to be better about working together as a team, the kids doing chores to help out, etc. I bought mini dust pans so the boys could help out after I swept it into a big pile, they could sweep and bring their pans to the garbage. Marcel still couldn't care less, but Manny has been really excited to help. He has been so cute and loving these last few weeks/months. The first day we used the pans I swept up a big pile and had Manny come over. And I watched him as he "carefully" swept the dust into his pan. (And when I say carefully I mean really badly. He was doing it so slow and with what he thought was great care I am sure, but dust was going everywhere.) I saw that he was trying hard and I said, "Way to go Manny, thanks for helping out." He was very serious and said, "I practiced." How cute that he had thought to practice sweeping. It just warms my heart to think of the sweetness of this little boy. I am so happy I get to be his mother. He can be so terrible sometimes, but so amazing at others. I guess maybe we are all a little like that. I wonder if that is how Heavenly Father feels sometimes. Well, maybe he doesn't think we are sweet and terrible devils at times, but I think he appreciates and recognizes when we try hard at something.
More Manny quotes
"Why do you have to be so mean?" What?? Apparently Abuela goes and unlocks the door to the apartment and then lets the boys out of the car. I am a mean mom because I turn the car off and help Marcel out before I unlock the apartment, so sometimes Manny is waiting at the door. How heartless of me.
"I'm getting tired of you bossing me around." This was said after I had commented in an exasperated moment that I was tired of him not listening/not being obedient.
"According to my math church is too long." Well, it is a little long sometimes

Random

I love that my boys like great movies. Manny's favorite (right now) is Sound of Music and Marcel's (right now) is Wizard of Oz.

Choose Cisco

Luis has been working really hard. His job right now requires a lot. A lot of studying, working, practicing, presentations, test taking, etc. He is gone most of the time, sometimes doesn't come until middle of the night/early morning, everyday he goes to the office-even on weekends. He is always walking around practicing a presentation. We have become used to it, but one time he really wanted an audience so I sat on the couch and was listening. Manny came and sat with me listen to Papi give a presentation on "why you should chose cisco." Very professional, very well done. When he finished Manny said, "I would not choose Cisco because it takes you too long to get home to me." Ha! Ha! We know it's just for a time we need to sacrifice, but it is hard. Only until July (when the program is over and he goes back to just a "regular job"). We can do it.

Love Update

So Manny didn't forget. I'm just slow at documenting. He had decided that Wednesday was going to be the day he was going to tell her. Tuesday night he comes to me and says-"Mom, do you have any tips for talking to girls?" How cute is that? I try to give him all the tips I can think of, and all about how she might not like you, it's okay, maybe she'll like you later, maybe you'll like someone else, it doesn't mean you're a bad guy, the worst that can happen is she'll say no, and you will be fine, etc. I pick him up from school on Wednesday and he looks really sad. "How did it go?"  "I forgot to tell her." "That's okay."  I later found out that at the lunch table she told him she hated him. Sadface. But he said, "But I'm still going to tell her. I need to tell her." Persistent little fella. Reminds me of someone (Luis). When I was cleaning out his bag I found a big card stock card that said
     FUM MANNY
AVA              and then on the back a giant     I  (heart-not sure how to do it on computer) YOU

I asked him about it and he told me he wanted to give it to me since "you probably won't get a valentine."    Later that night he told me that he was going to give Ava a special Valentine with the most beautiful words on it. And then when tucking him in bed he said, "I love Ava more than anything in my life." What?! Where does he get this? How can he be so dramatic?

So I had to go and buy Tinkerbell valentines. Everyone else could have Lego Star Wars, but she needed Tinkerbell. And he wrote a big I heart you on the valentine and folded it so she couldn't see his words until she opened it up. He was so excited. He talked about it all week. We made the valentines on Sunday and his party was going to be Friday. Everyday he would talk about it and how Friday was going to be a big day. (I had told him that I hadn't liked Luis right away. I just wanted to be friends. Manny said-but I bet you loved him on Valentines Day, right? I'm not sure.   But he was sure she was going to love him on that day. He also knows that she likes Bradley in his class, but this Valentines was going to change all that...)

Fast forward to later in the week. We had the "Snowpocalypse." Ridiculous snow-reminded me of Atlanta. Me and the kids were stuck in the car for 6 hours. Not my idea of a good time. Needless to say school was canceled. And so was his party. He was devastated and said, "I've been waiting all week (a long time) for this." I reminded him that they would reschedule his party.

The party happened on Monday and I haven't heard anything about it yet. I'm pretty sure she didn't even read his valentine when she went home, because I know Manny didn't read any of his. He just looked for candy on the cards. I don't really want to bring it up or remind him because I am enjoying this break in drama.

I know it's not really a great ending to this long story, but that is it. It still made me smile.

Brave

Do you know the song Brave by Sara Bareilles?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUQsqBqxoR4

Some of the lyrics say-"Say what you want to say, and let the words fall out." It's all about being brave and saying what you need to say, using your words for good, etc.  The song was on the radio in the car and and this conversation really happened.
Manny-I just need to say it.
Me-What are you talking about?
Manny-I just need to say it. I need to tell Ava. I have a crush on her.
Me-Oh, really? What are you going to say?
Manny-That I love her. I need to tell her.
Me-Okay. You say what you need to say, Manny.

Who knew we had such a loverboy? But sadly school has been cancelled for the past 4 days (because of the all the snow we've had-somewhere between 1.5-3 inches) so he hasn't had a chance to tell her. Doesn't bravery usually have some sort of a time limit? We'll see if he remembers or is brave enough on Monday....

Flashback Oct-Nov

Mainly this is just a post full of pictures

So next was the church Halloween party. Manny got to choose Papi's costume. He's a robber-can you tell? (he's wearing stripes)

I loved another family's costumes. Even funnier was that the wife had to feed the husband because he couldn't get his arms to his face.

He was the tin man. With an amazing homemade costume.
(Terrible pictures, but I'll remember what it looked like in my head.)

And the Wicked Witch was feeding him. They also had a lion, the Good Witch, a scarecrow, plus a bunch more. You'd need a lot of kids to pull this off. Good thing they have 6.

Can you tell who I was? I was supposed to be Hermana Encarnacion (the nun friend from Nacho Libre), but Manny decided "nobody can be from the same movie. So he renamed me Frauline Maria from the Sound of Music. A nun's a nun, right?

Sadly, out of the 7 pictures I took of our beautiful carved pumpkin, this is the best I got.

School parade

Class picture. Notice the cute ladybug in the back. I think that's the little girl Manny has a crush on, but don't tell anyone. It's a secret.

Then we went trick or treating with friends. Good thing Manny has a lot of costumes so he can switch it up when he wants.

Running off in a candy frenzy

Beautiful princesses (Isabella and he mom Sara-our friends)

Marcelito telling me which way to go

Our other friends (Diego and his dad-the power ranger). I'm glad Manny had a friend to go with

Marcel's bucket getting too heavy

Creepy eyes. Thanks school, for giving him those ridiculous glasses

Someone at work gave Luis those disgusting looking teeth. Manny thought they were awesome.

We got to go to our favorite kid museum-Marble's

Marcel's shirt got too wet.

Marcel's 2nd birthday!

Manny giving good advice on how to open presents.

Marcel really digging in

I promise he was happy with his toys, although it may not look like it

A super hero cell phone

More stories-runny nose, finger hairs, star wars, pony, ow

More silliness at our house I don't want to forget

Manny-
Manny had a runny nose, and in his defense I think he gets more dramatic the worse he feels/more tired he is. He could only breathe out of one nostril and started crying hysterically. I said, "It'll get better." He responded with ,"When I die it'll get better!"

Manny calls hang nails "finger hairs."

Manny has really been into Star Wars Angry Birds. I'm not even sure who taught him how to play, but he may be a little obsessed. Sadly, for him, I don't let him play all the time so he has to use his imagination. He now builds giant armies of Star Wars Angry Birds out of trios (lego-like blocks) and I have to watch him and sometimes participate in it (although I never play anything right, according to him). He knows all the characters and what exactly they do. He liked them and talked about it so much we thought he might like the actual Star Wars. We were right. He loves it and talks about it all the time. We started out with the classics (#s 4, 5, and 6), and then let him watch parts of the others (they aren't nearly as exciting and #3 may be a bit scary). Funny that he doesn't like loud noises. He thought it was cool that Luke got his hand chopped off and could get a cool robot arm, but we had to watch a lot of it with the mute on. He says, "Push mutate!"

We are working on being better at eating different things. Marcel is great, but Manny still struggles. I made a chicken bake one night. He ate it pretty calmly, but I heard a lot of, "Please don't make me ever eat this again," "Every time I eat a bite I feel like I need to throw up", etc. All said very calmly and matter of fact. Still working on it.

Manny has been ending up in our bed sometimes. His latest story has been, "A pony came into my room and told me to go into your bed." Interesting. So one night after he came in I waited a while and excitedly said, "Did you hear that? It's the pony. He wants you to go back to your bed." He looked at me with a serious look on his face and said, "The pony only talks to me. And he only comes to me one time a night. He's done for the night." Then he rolled over.

Marcel-
I love how Marcel points at his nose to say, "Shh."

He gives the best, most amazing hugs, and gives a lot of them. He also still likes to smell you when he pulls your face close to his. It's the best.

Marcel has mastered the art of drama (most likely learned from Manny). He has figured out he gets the most reaction when he says Ow. Manny and he would be playing and I would hear him scream-OW!!! I would race into to the room to just find him frustrated with a toy that wasn't doing what he wanted it to. Another time he screamed-OW!!! and I rushed in to find that Manny wouldn't give him a toy he wanted. Awesome. Do you think he's too young to understand "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" story?
